Memorable Hand:
The hand that denied Fishcman back-to-back victories in this event (he won the first of two bracelets last year in this same competition) and elevated Cunningham to victory started inconspicuously enough, with Fischman limping in with 5-4 and Cunningham checking with 6-3. The flop came 10-6-3, Cunningham bet $100,000 with his two pairs, and Fischman called with his open-ended straight draw. The turn was a 4, Cunningham bet $250,000, Fischman raised all in for about $800,000 more, and Cunningham, after a long pause, made the call. The river card was an ace, making Cunningham the champ.
