The most important hand of this event didn’t come during the heads-up play, or even at the final table, or even on the final day. On the first day, eventual winner Poels was short-stacked, all in, and heading for the exits when he spiked an ace on the river to stay alive.

Other noteworthy finishers were Michael Mizrachi in 35th and Phil Ivey in 54th.
