Memorable Hand:
Final table chip leader Chuck Thompson folded his first 20 hands of the day, then finally decided to raise with a lousy 8-3. David ‘the Dragon’ Pham called with A-8, and wouldn’t you know it, the flop was 8-4-3, rewarding Thompson for his seemingly pointless gamble. Thompson bet $40,000, Pham raised to $120,000 and Thompson re-raised all in for another $354,000, forcing Pham to fold.
Other noteworthy finishers were: Barry Greenstein in 20th; Annie Duke in 32nd; and David Williams in 34th.
Running Numbers:
1,495: Total number or re-buys in this event
81: Percent favorite Gordon was with his pocket aces against Pham’s pocket tens, only to get eliminated on a bad bead.
