2008 WSOP Schedule
And once again the time has arrived…
The 2008 World Series of Poker has announced this year’s schedule of games. This year’s WSOP will consist of 55 games being played beginning at the end of May and continuing until the first part of July.
The WSOP schedule has quite the variety of games, very similar to last years schedule including the buy-in amounts. Some new combinations of games will be introduced this year.
This years games will begin being played early than any other year, on May 30th. The first game being played this year is the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event. In years past the Casino Employees game was always the first game held. This year that game will be the last one played and starts on July 7th.
The buy-in amounts have slowly become bigger with only two games this year that have $1,000 buy-in other than the Ladies only and the Seniors tournament. And those two games are No Limit Hold’em with re-buys and an add-on. Quite a few of this years games will have a buy-in of $1500.
The Main Event game this year will last for 13 days and starts on July 3rd. Different from last year is the amount of starting chips players will have, at $20,000 and there will be four days of Day One play.
So far, there have been no changes to the schedule since it was announced. As will past years game play starts at either noon or 5pm and continues to either a set level of the tournament or 2 am, whichever comes first. Poker schedule and the WSOP personnel will not be able to change that schedule once play commences.
One special game being played this year is the ‘Ante up for Africa’ which has a $5,000 buy-in, that a portion of those monies will benefit the organization hosted by Annie Duke and Don Cheadle. This game was played last year and more than $700,000 was raised for victims in Darfur.
