2009 WSOP Event 29 Results
Most No Limit Hold’em games come down to a heads up match, but Event #29 was all Heads up as the $10,000 World Championship Heads Up Event. It started with 256 players looking to get a piece of the $2.4 Million prize pool. This was a four day event that ended Day 1 with just 64 players remaining. Notable eliminations of the day were Phil Hellmuth, Layne Flack, and Greg Raymer as well as last years champ Kenny Tran. Day 2 ended after three rounds of heads up play and just 8 entrants left. Day 3 would end as the final two heads up competitors would be named. The last men standing were Leo Wolpert, who would take the bracelet and the top prize against John Duthie, EPT founder. After a grueling day and 191 hands of heads up action, Duthie would fall to Wolpert. Duthie took home $386,636 and Wolpert, a former pro poker player, turned law student, turned back to poker player, would take $625,682. Buy-in: $10,000 Final results:
