2009 WSOP Event 48 Results
Congratulations to Brandon Cantu for winning Event #48 of the 2009 World Series of Poker and taking home his first gold bracelet and the top prize of $228,867. Cantu started his rise to the top midway through the second day of play where he held the chip lead for quite a while. Going into the heads up action against Lee Watkinson, Cantu was far behind the leader in chips with Watkinson having a 5:1 chip advantage.
The first two days saw 753 of the 762 original entrants eliminated. Those sent to the rail included Mike Sexton, Mark Seif, Marco Traniello and Phil Hellmuth, who did finish in 14th place. .
