2009 WSOP Satellites



Most poker players know that paying the $10K buy in isn't the only way to play in the World Series of Poker Main Event. Online players know this especially well. Over the past few years online poker players have been able to play their way into the Main Event through Satellite games. One online poker player, Chris Moneymaker, actually won the WSOP Main Event after qualifying through an online satellite game.

This year is no different from past years where several online poker rooms are offering players the chance to win their way to the WSOP Main Event for as little as 11c. Poker players are even more excited about attending the WSOP this year because it marks the 40th Anniversary of the WSOP.

Listed below are some of the online poker rooms that are offering 2009 WSOP Satellite Games. This years World Series of Poker will begin on May 28th with a $40K buy-in Anniversary game. Action will continue with different games starting daily until July 15th. That is the day that the final table for the Main Event will be set. Just like last year, final table players will take a few months off and final table action will then resume on November 7th.

Players can win their seat by player WSOP Satellite games at Carbon Poker. CarbonPoker.com is offering players several chances to win a WSOP prize package by playing WSOP Satellite games. Multi-table tournament games and sit-n-go games are currently running with buy-ins as low as $2.10. These low buy-in games are done in a series of 'step satellite' games in which a player who wins one game can earn entry into the next level buy-in all the wa up to the WSOP Grand Final Qualifier game that has a buy-in of $460. In that satellite game, one $12.5K price package will be awarded for every 30 players in the tournament with a maximum of 16 2009 WSOP price packages given away.

Cake Poker is also offering a series of 2009 WSOP Satellite games, and not just to the Main Event game. Players at Cake Poker can either play the 'step' satellite games or directly buy-in, or they can also use their Gold Chips (Cake Frequent Player Points) to gain entry to satellite WSOP games. Besides earning entry to the 2009 WSOP Main Event, you can also earn your way to Event #54 at this year's World Series of Poker. Event 54 is a $1,500 No Limit Hold'em game and Cake Poker will be sending 100 lucky players to the game. Satellite games for the 100 Seat Giveaway have not been announced yet.

In years past, Poker Stars has been known as the online poker room that sends the most players of all the online poker rooms to the Main Event. Again this year, PokerStars will have a large variety of satellite games everyday. Not only will they be offering low buy in satellite games, they will be offering WSOP qualifier games as well. Poker Stars has not released their actual 2009 WSOP satellite schedule but when they do we will update the information here.

One other online poker room that is offering 2009 WSOP Satellite games is Full Tilt Poker. Full Tilt Poker is offering quite a list of online WSOP satellite events that are currently running. Not only are they trying to send some winners to the 2009 WSOP but, Full Tilt is also offering a $10 Million bonus to any player who qualifies for the Main Event through one of their satellites and then wins the Main Event. They are offering several different satellite games that have Main Event prize packages. Other 1009 WSOP satellite games include the Weekly Cash Qualifiers, Race for the Bracelet Satellite, Race to the Main Event Satellite, 150 Seat Guaranteed event, and the $200K Stimulus Qualifier. Buy-in prices for Full Tilt Satellite games range from $4.40 up to $1060.
