Born September 13, 1965 in Concord, New Hampshire, Annie Duke is probably the most famous female poker player today. She is the sister of poker pro, Howard Lederer and author/poet Katy Lederer. Annie attended Columbia University and earned a Masters degree in English and psychology. After five years of graduate school and one month before defending her Ph.D. work, she and husband Ben, moved to Las Vegas so that Annie could play pro poker. She began playing in local card rooms in 1994, while living in Montana.
In early 2004, Duke received considerable publicity because she tutored actor Ben Affleck in poker, who went on to win the 2004 California State Poker Championship. In September 2004 Duke won $2 million in the inaugural World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, a 10-player, winner-take-all invitational event. She subsequently appeared on the David Letterman show.
In addition to playing poker, Annie has published several articals on Omaha Holdem and in September 2005 her biography entitled, "Annie Duke: How I raised, folded, bluffed, flirted, cursed and won millions at the World Series of Poker" hit the shelves.
She is currently a spokesperson for Ultimate Bet online poker.

When Annie is not busy coaching likes of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on their poker game, she and husband, Ben Duke are busy with their four children: Maud, Leo, Lucy and Nelly
