Antonio "the Magician" Esfandiari Poker Profile

Antonio "the Magician" Esfandiari was born Amir Esfandiari on December 8, 1987 in Tehran, Iran. When Antonio was 9 years old his family moved to San Jose, California. After being teased at school, Antonio changed his name from Amir to Anthony. He later changed it to Antonio and became a professional magician at age 19. His poker career started while he was performing magic and was invited to play a game of Texas Holdem. Not long after that he started cashing in poker tournaments. In 2004 he won over a million dollars at the Commerce Casino and in that same year won his first gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker. Antonio's signature hand of 7-9 has been dubbed "the Persian Carpet Ride".

Esfandiari has appeared several times on televised poker games, on Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament and also on GSN's High Stakes Poker. Often times while touring on the poker circuit, he and Phil "the Unabomber" Laak are roommates.
