Chip Reese Poker Profile![]() David Edward Reese, better known as Chip, was born on March 28, 1951 in Centerville, Ohio. As an elementary student he suffered from rheumatic fever and spent almost a year at home. During that time Chips mom taught him to play several board and card games including poker. By the time he was six years old, he was playing fifth-graders at poker and winning. In high school he was an outstanding football player and national finalist in debate. Chip turned down the opportunity to attend Harvard University and attended Dartmouth College. He was accepted to Stanford Law School and decided instead to play poker professionally after he had won $40,000 in a poker tournament in Las Vegas. Shortly after quitting his job and moving to Las Vegas, Reese wrote the 7-Card Stud section of Doyle Brunsons Super System, which is the best selling poker book of all time. He later became the Dunes Casino card room manager. In 1991, he was the youngest living poker player to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame..
