Clonie Gowen Profile![]() Cycalona Gowen, better known as Clonie, was born in 1971 in Kiowa, OK. Her unusual first name was inspired by the fact that she was born during a powerful storm. Clonie and her family moved to Corsicana, TX when she was a teenager. She was introduced to poker by her boyfriends father and would drive from Dallas to Shreveport, LA on the weekends, making a few hundred dollars each week. She burst onto the poker scene by following up her Top 10 WPT Costa Rica Classic finish with a win at the WPT Ladies Night event in 2003. Her victory against world-class players Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman was watched by millions of viewers and was the highest rated WPT show ever broadcast. Clonie has also appeared in a segment of Good Morning America and has been featured in the New York Times, Dallas Observer, Texas Monthly and Esquire Magazine. She has served as a guest commentator for the Ultimate Poker Challenge and the European World Poker Championship in Dublin, and is a regular columnist for All In magazine. She frequently hosts tournaments and charity events and is now a partner in a poker school, teaching women ( and men) the basics of tournament play.
