H.O.R.S.E.
H.O.R.S.E. has in recent years become very popular among the best poker players in the world, since they think skill is a much bigger factor in this game than in Texas Holdem. Some players actually think that the real world champion of poker is the one who wins the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event at the WSOP. They argue that anyone can get lucky and win the Main Event, but that it's takes a true champion to master five different playing forms and win the H.O.R.S.E. tournament.
H.O.R.S.E. consists of these five different poker games:
H Texas Hold'em the most popular poker game around the world today. A community-card game in which you combine two hole cards with five cards on the board to create the best possible five-card hand.
O Omaha this game is very similar to Texas Hold'em, but in Omaha you get four hole cards instead of two and you have to use exactly tow of them and combine with three of the five community cards to create your hand.
R Razz this is the low version of Seven-Card Stud. You get dealt three cards face-down and four cards face-up and the object of the game is to create the lowest possible five-card poker hand.
S Seven-Card Stud one of the most classic poker games. You get dealt three cards face-down and four cards face-up and the object of the game is to create the best possible five-card poker hand.
E Seven-Card Stud Eight or Better another version of Seven-Card Stud. In this game, the object is to create two hands one high and one low. To make a qualified low hand, you must have five un-paired cards with a value below 9.
In a H.O.R.S.E rotation game, the game would be changed every time the dealer button made a full round. In poker tournaments, however, the game is changed at the end of each round, or after a set and predetermined amount of time.
If you prefer online poker to live games and want to try out H.O.R.S.E., your options are rather limited, but there are a few poker sites that offer this poker variation. PokerStars is one of them.
