Kristy "Mixed-Games" Gazes Poker Profile

Kristy Gazes was born in Torrance, CA and like many other Californians made her way into the entertainment industry after school. While She enjoyed a career as a documentary filmmaker, poker caught her interest and the rest, as they say, is history. Kristy Gazes had her introduction to casino poker as a nineteen-year-old. She had a fake ID and would sneak into the Commerce Casino with friends to play Pai Gow. Soon after that she was at the Commerce several nights a week playing 7-card-stud.

In fact, before 2003, She only played about five to 10 tournaments a year, preferring to sharpen her skills in as many different games as she could and earning the nickname of Kristy "Mixed-Games" Gazes.

During the day she pursued other professional interests. She worked on documentary films as an editor and a post-production coordinator. But these were labors of love that didn't pay much. She largely supported herself from the proceeds from her low-limit poker sessions.
After almost six years of play, Kristy started looking to play higher limits. She learned the hi/lo games and became a full-time pro. Soon she was playing in the biggest mixed in LA. Her sharp, patient play gained her a number of admirers, including Bill Gazes, Amir Vahedi and Greg Mascio.
Familiar with quality of her play, the pros were disappointed when Kristy was not invited to participate in the Word Poker Tour's inaugural Ladies Night event. They encouraged her to start playing no-limit hold 'em tournaments. She agreed and headed to Aruba to play in the $5,000 buy-in WPT event. It was one of her first no-limit tournaments, yet Kristy played well enough to cash.
Since then, Kristy has proved her no-limit tournament abilities. She cashed in several major tournaments, and in July, Kristy won the FullTiltPoker.Net Championship at the Wynn, netting $250,000. That day, Kristy bested one of the most elite fields of poker players ever assembled. Players included Chris Ferguson, Jon Juanda, Daniel Negreanu, and Phil Gordon. In heads-up play, Kristy overcame one of the poker's best and most experienced players, Ted Forrest.
Kristy spends much of her time traveling with the poker tour, but she enjoys her time away from the tables as well. She spends much of the year in Hawaii and is looking forward to a time when she can live there year-round.
