Phil Laak Poker Profile
Phil Laak was born September 8, 1972 in Dublin, Ireland. He was raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts and currently lives between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Laak graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in mechanical engineering and has worked as an engineer, a repo man and a real estate investor, prior to moving to California and becoming a pro poker player.
Laak become know on the poker scene as the "Unabomber" after fellow poker pro, Gus Hansen, gave him a hooded sweatshirt, which he wears with the hood up and pulls closed the drawstrings, along with his trademark sunglasses. Phil also can be seen "air boxing" at the poker tables, as well as doing pushups and running behind the dealer during a showdown to see which card will come up next. His antics have made him popular with some fans but have drawn criticism from others who believe he is acting unprofessionally.
