A Sneak Peek at the Schedule of the 45th WSOP World Series of Poker 2014
On May 27, 2014 (Tuesday) the 45th season of WSOP or World Series of Poker, which is the most renowned and longest running tournaments series in the world will start. The chosen location for this prestigious event is again the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas which has been its venue for the last 9 years, this being the tenth.
Just like the previous years, this major series is expected to be as action-packed if not more. Cash games are featured as well as gold bracelet events, satellites and thrice the deep stack tournaments which will run every day for 49 consecutive days. Final event is scheduled on July 14, 2014, Monday.
For the final event, it is a $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em event. This will be the highlight this summer in the longest running poker festival in the world. The final event will be held for ten days beginning July 5 until July 14, 2014.
There will be 3 starting flights for the Main Event which will happen from Saturday to Monday, July 5 to 7, 2014.
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said in an interview that they will make sure that the 45th WSOP gets to be the best and the biggest. It is also their 10th in Rio and they are expecting that more people will be joining this exciting series.
Players residing in Nevada and New Jersey will have their exclusive online home at WSOP.com with the site’s real-money poker games. By playing these games online, players can get seats for the various events this season as well as a seat at the Main Event. If you don’t live in Nevada or New Jersey but are currently in these states, you can still play at WSOP.com. There will be satellites running in the duration of the whole tournament series.
If you’re interested to join, you may easily do so because the buy-ins are very affordable. Buy-ins start at $75. Starting May 27, cash games will be offered and will last for 7 weeks, happening 24/7 at the Rio.

May 31 (Saturday) – The opening event will happen on this day. The No-Limit Hold’em “Millionaire Maker” will have a buy-in of $1500. The winner will get 666 times the amount of money he/she invested with a guarantee of $1 million. In 2013, the same event attracted a total of 6,343 participants. The first place winner garnered $1,198,780 and the event’s prize pool totalled more than $8.5 million.
June 29 (Sunday) – the Big One for ONE DROP is back. It is a No-Limit Hold’em charity event with a buy-in of $1 million all for the benefit of ONE DROP. The winner will be awarded with the biggest prize in poker history in the amount of over $20,000,000! The number of players is only until 56 players.
July 3-4 (Thursday & Friday) – The Little One for ONE DROP will be featured on these dates. It is a No-Limit Hold’em event with a buy-in of $1,111. This event will also be for the benefit of the ONE DROP charity. There will be 2 starting days featuring an unlimited re-entry for the first 4 levels of play. There will be 4,756 players during its debut with an expected prize pool of $4.3 million. The winner at that time garnered $663,727 first place cash prize. The Little One for ONE DROP is also going to be the final No-Limit Hold’em event prior to the WSOP Main Event.
For the whole series, around 500 poker tables are being prepared and will be spread across more than 100,000 sq.ft. of ballroom space. This will ensure that the thousands of entrants joining from all around the world will be given a chance to play in this annual poker Woodstock.
In 2013, there were 79,471 participants in the 44th WSOP. That became the biggest attendance in the history of WSOP so far. That series had a total of 62 events which created a prize pool of more than $197 million. Players who participated came from 107 different countries. The Main Event was won by Ryan Riess of Michigan. He has beaten 6,352 players and got a hefty cash prize of $8,361,570.
There are still other events to be featured in the 45th season of WSOP which are still being finalized. In total, there will be over 60 gold bracelet events. As for the weekend warriors, they can play the No-Limit Hold’em and other kinds of poker games with various buy-ins at both entry and championship levels. There will also be plans for events meant for for Casino Employees, Seniors and Ladies.
The full schedule of the whole series will be released sometime this month.
