Event #11 was the first of three shoot-out games being played in the 2008 WSOP series. The $5,000 No Limit Hold’em shootout brought 360 players and Philip Tom came out on top to win $477,990. The final six players all started with a chip stack of $1,000,000 and after 3 hours of play, only 5 players remained. Twenty minutes later it was down to four players and shortly thereafter it went to three players. After a few more hours, Tom and Greg Mueller were heads up 13 hands later the tournament was over. Tom’s 1st place finish was much better than his previous best finish of 22nd place in a cash tournament.
